Man hasn't sat or lain down for 12 years in devotion to Shiva

A Hindu named Dhandi Adigal has not sat or lain down for 12 years, observing an unusual spiritual vow. He even sleeps standing up, leaning on a suspended rope.

It is believed that anyone who endures such a trial may be granted a vision of the god Shiva. According to those around him, over the years of this practice, the man's leg muscles have noticeably atrophied. Locals claim they do not remember another person who was able to see this vow through to the end.
