Shark bites female tourist on the leg during a dive in Brazil
Tayane Dalazen, a 37-year-old Brazilian lawyer, went diving off the coast of Brazil to observe sharks. During the dive, one of them grabbed her by the thigh and pulled her underwater, leaving bite marks on her leg. Tayane said she tried to remain calm and not fight back against the predator.
The São Paulo-based blogger posted a video of the incident online, where it quickly garnered tens of millions of views.
Although she insisted she "wasn't there for social media content" and did not intentionally provoke the predator, Tayane admitted she had gotten too close.
"I knew something had changed because the sharks were at the surface. There were a lot of them. When the shark bit me, the pain was intense. I stayed calm because I knew I couldn't fight the animal," she recounted.
However, online commentary suggests this terrifying attack is part of a shocking global trend where influencers risk their lives for the sake of the "perfect selfie."
