Mass riots broke out in Northern Ireland after an immigrant from Sudan attacked a local resident. In Belfast, masked people set houses on fire and chanted the slogan: "Foreigners out!".

On the evening of June 9, hundreds of masked people took to the streets of Belfast. They set fire to houses, cars, buses, and trash cans, smashed shop windows, and built barricades. Due to the protests, the metro was suspended. The fire service reported that on the night of June 10, they responded to put out fires in different parts of the city at least 60 times.
