During a children's party, an alligator attacked a zoo employee, seriously injuring her arm
At the Salt Lake City Zoo, Scales & Tails, which also hosts educational nature events, an accident occurred during a children's birthday party near the habitat of an alligator, named Darth Gator, inspired by the Star Wars film series.
The alligator suddenly grabbed employee Lindsay Buhl's arm and wouldn't let go. She struggled with the reptile for some time, trying to free her arm, but to no avail.
The woman was saved from the alligator by a visitor who jumped into the water, attacked Darth Gator, and subdued him.
Doctors managed to prevent Lindsay's bitten arm from possible amputation.
The incident was captured on video, which was subsequently viewed by several million viewers. Lindsay and the zoo's director insist there should be no "sanctions" against the alligator.
"We will do everything possible to keep him here. As long as we take care of him, there will be no punishment for the alligator.
