Emma Amit, 51, was hunting shellfish and crabs near her home in Puerto Princesa City with her friends. They then cooked their catch in coconut milk, and Emma devoured it all on camera.
The next day, Emma fell ill, having been exposed to a powerful "cocktail" of neurotoxins. She was convulsing as she was being transported to the medical center. By the time she was taken to the emergency room, she was already unconscious, and her lips had turned blue. The doctors were unable to save her.
During the investigation into her death, the remains of her seafood dinner were found in Emma's trash can, including the shells of "devil crabs," which contain neurotoxins deadly to humans, similar to those found in puffer fish.
