Traffic conflict in New York ended in gunfire
On December 11, 2025, a serious traffic incident occurred in New York State: a dispute between a Volkswagen and a Toyota pickup truck lasted approximately 2 kilometers and ended with gunfire. Police are investigating the cause of the dispute and the circumstances of the shooting.
According to investigators, the driver of the Volkswagen, 31-year-old Wallace Fisher of Middletown, exited the vehicle and began an argument with the driver of the Toyota, 33-year-old Anthony Simon, an off-duty Kingston police officer. A verbal argument near Simon's driver's window escalated into a physical confrontation, and police say Fisher pulled a knife. Simon then fired his weapon, wounding Fisher.
Fischer was taken to Garnet Health Medical Center and then transferred to Westchester Medical Center, where he is in critical but stable condition. No charges have been filed as state police continue to review surveillance footage and interview witnesses. Simon has been suspended pending the investigation.
