A basketball hoop crushed a youth national team player in India

Hardik Rathi, a 16-year-old athlete, was practicing his jump and found himself hanging from a basketball hoop. The hoop immediately collapsed on top of him, crushing his chest. The incident occurred in Rohtak district in the Indian state of Haryana.
Rati was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries. NDTV notes that local residents have repeatedly complained about the poor condition of the hoop. They believe the tragedy is a direct consequence of poor maintenance of sports infrastructure in India.
The footage shows the moment the hoop fell on the athlete. It is clear that the young man was alone on the court before he made his fatal leap.
