Australian powerlifter suffered scalp bleeding during squats
According to doctors, the cause was excessive pressure, which forced blood through his pores.
More horrors of elite sport. An Australian powerlifter began bleeding from his eyes and scalp while attempting a squat with a huge weight.
According to media reports, the athlete, Pasha Osman, broke a local record by squatting a barbell weighing 402.5 kilograms. The heavyweight wasn't content to stop there and decided to lift 410 kilograms just to be on the safe side. But something went wrong during the attempt. Osman was unable to lift the weight, and the strain caused him to bleed from unusual places. Typically, in such cases, powerlifters experience broken capillaries in their noses.
As doctors later reported, due to severe intracranial pressure, the blood mixed with sweat and was forced through the pores of his scalp and face. The athlete was hospitalized but didn't require medical attention. Media reports indicate he's doing well now. But he's unlikely to stay well for long if he continues this way.
