The criminals fled the beach in a taxi, but were spotted by local residents. One of them came to the British students' aid and called an ambulance.
The investigation revealed that 23-year-old Amanda Couto DeLoca, 26-year-old Maiara Katelin Américo da Silva, and 27-year-old Ryan Campos de Oliveira had previously been involved in similar incidents. They had plied foreigners with a cocktail called "Goodnight Cinderella" in order to rob them. They have not yet been apprehended.
The girls stole £2,000 and personal belongings from the British students. An investigation is ongoing.
