This morning at the Almaty airport, a strange man tried to enter the pre-flight area and got very angry when he was asked for documents. Then he took out a knife and took people hostage.
The incident occurred this morning. The MAA aviation security service screening officers asked the man to show his documents, but he grabbed the screening officer by the hair and threatened everyone present with a knife.
At some point, the man asked the distraught grandfather to let the girl go and offered to replace her with himself. The knife-wielding man agreed - and eyewitnesses could see how he was now holding the hand of that very daredevil.
After some time, the man, having lulled the old man's vigilance with conversation, managed to snatch the knife from his hands. After that, the inadequate man was overpowered by security forces.
Luckily, no one was hurt by the attacker's actions. It was later reported that he was a 67-year-old resident of Almaty, and the 52-year-old Abdraim Musa Sairanbayuly, who saved the airport employee, will be awarded for courage and bravery. This man was at the airport because he was seeing off his relatives. He did not lose his head and, risking his own life, prevented a tragedy.
"Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was informed about the situation with the hostage-taking at the Almaty airport. The President noted the courage and skill of the man who neutralized the criminal, and ordered that he be presented for a state award," the Kazakh media noted.
