Riots erupted after the February 21 match between Osasuna and Real Madrid at the stadium in Pamplona. Police wanted to detain an Osasuna fan who had thrown a bottle onto the pitch during the game.
This led to a fight. Police used batons to force a group of fans into the corridors and restrooms of the south stand. Video footage shows people fleeing in fear and being hit in the back and head.
Two people were arrested, police said: one for throwing a bottle, the other for resisting. Two were injured, and one is currently hospitalized in serious condition. Osasuna, for its part, claimed the police were excessively violent. The club promises to investigate the incident itself.
