In China, bridesmaids were tied up and forced to kiss strangers as part of a "wedding prank"
A shocking video from Shaanxi Province has sparked outrage: two bridesmaids were tied to an electric bike and forced to kiss the groom's friends, whom they didn't know.
The footage shows men holding the girls' heads and preventing them from turning away, while the crowd laughs and films the incident. The women appeared confused.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident lasted for several minutes. Social media users called it blatant sexual harassment, condemning the indifference of those around them.
In China, authorities are campaigning against "vulgar wedding customs," but the tradition of wedding pranks, known as hun nao (??), is still widespread, especially in rural areas. Originally, the noise and merriment were believed to ward off evil spirits and help relieve tension among the newlyweds.
In recent years, such pranks have increasingly spiraled out of control and turned into humiliations. There have been previous reports of grooms being tied to trees, doused with ink, or even burned. In one incident, a man was left disabled and won compensation from his attackers.
