French trash streamer died live on air after ten days of abuse
French police have ordered an investigation. However, preliminary findings indicate that the streamer's death was not criminally motivated.
Prominent French trash streamer Raphaël Gravin, known online as Jean Pormanove, died live on air after a ten-day marathon, during which his peers harassed him in every way possible, in exchange for viewers' money.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Gravin's death was not criminally motivated, but beatings from "comrades," sleep deprivation, and prolonged forced consumption of toxic food could have undermined the 46-year-old trash streamer's health and contributed to his death, according to French law enforcement. A forensic examination has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death. The streamer died in his sleep on August 18 in a house in the village of Comte, located near Nice. The video shows one of his "colleagues" attempting to wake him up in a manner typical of trash streams, and when he failed to wake up, the stream was immediately cut off.

Raphaël Gravin reportedly has over half a million followers on Kick and TikTok. French Government Minister Clara Chappaz called his death "absolutely horrific," noting that Gravin regularly appeared in videos in which he was "subjected to physical violence or humiliation by other streamers."
American rapper Drake and renowned streamer Adin Ross have promised to organize the streamer's funeral. Kick, where Gravin died live, is urgently revising its community rules.
It's worth noting that a year ago, Russia passed a law imposing large fines for trash streams. This followed a series of scandals involving Russian streamers. In 2020, Valentina Grigorieva died during a stream by blogger Stas "Reeflay" Reshetnyak. The blogger kicked the drunk woman out onto the balcony, where she froze to death. In 2021, Reshetnyak was sentenced to six years in a maximum-security penal colony for intentionally causing grievous bodily harm resulting in the victim's death. In 2024, he was transferred from the penal colony to forced labor for good behavior.
