In the Indian city of Prayagraj, eyewitnesses captured images of a massive beam collapsing into the water while attempting to load it onto a barge.
In Prayagraj, India, construction on a 10-kilometer bridge across the Ganges has been underway for four years. It was originally scheduled to open in February 2024, but a series of setbacks and problems, including financial ones, prevented this from happening.
The latest delay occurred due to an emergency on the morning of August 25: a massive beam collapsed into the water while attempting to transport it to the site.
The contractor was lucky in one respect – none of its employees or onlookers were injured.
