In Iran, a student took off her clothes in protest against the hijab
A girl protesting humiliation for "wearing a hijab incorrectly" has been arrested. Human rights activists are demanding her release.
The human rights organization Amnesty Iran has called for the immediate and unconditional release of the student.
"The Iranian authorities must immediately and unconditionally release the university student who was forcibly arrested on November 2 after she took off her clothes in protest against the brutal coercion of security guards to wear a hijab at the Islamic Azad University in Tehran," the statement said.
The organization called for the woman to be protected from "torture and other ill-treatment" until her release and demanded that she be given access to her family and a lawyer.
It is noted that the student undressed after university security guards humiliated her for wearing the hijab incorrectly.
A video of the incident, which students took from the windows of the university auditorium, quickly spread on social media, causing a significant stir. Many users expressed support for the woman, calling her actions brave and courageous.
Information about the identity of the detainee has not yet been made public. A local newspaper associated with the university reported that she was transferred to a mental hospital.
