People in the municipality of Ubá witnessed the terrifying sight. Severe thunderstorms struck the region on February 23. Video taken by witnesses captured the moment when a powerful current carried coffins from a flooded funeral home through the city streets. The video shows the water overturning cars and carrying debris from collapsed buildings.

The disaster has claimed 29 lives in Minas Gerais. Another 45 people are still missing. A spokesperson for the Ubá mayor's office stated that many local residents have lost everything. "Families literally lost everything. Homes, stories, and memories: their lives were destroyed in just a few hours," the official said.

Schools in the city are currently closed, and many hospitals have been destroyed. Emergency services are working to restore the city.
