US special forces misjudged their strength
A rare snow leopard attack on a person occurred in China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. The predator attacked a woman who was trying to take some dramatic photos of it.
According to local media, the woman was skiing and spotted the snow leopard in the snow on her way back to her hotel. Despite earlier warnings from authorities about the predator's presence in the area, the tourist approached the animal to within three meters, attempting to take a photo.
At one point, the snow leopard suddenly attacked the Chinese woman. The woman was pinned to the ground in deep snow, and then others rushed to her aid. Her face was covered in blood.
More serious injuries were avoided thanks to a protective helmet. The attack stopped after the instructor drove the predator away with ski poles.
The woman was taken to a local hospital. Her condition is reported to be stable and not life-threatening.
