In Portugal, a statue of Ronaldo was set on fire
A vandal set fire to a statue of Saudi Arabian Al-Nasr and Portugal national football team forward Cristiano Ronaldo on the Portuguese island of Madeira, where the footballer was born.
A video of the "ritual" was posted on social media. It shows a man breakdancing, making obscene gestures, and then dousing the bronze Ronaldo with fuel and setting it on fire.
"The perpetrator has been identified; he was known for similar crimes before," Correio reported, citing Madeira law enforcement.
The approximately 2.4-meter-tall bronze statue of Cristiano Ronaldo was installed in 2014 in the Praça do Mar port square on the island of Madeira, Portugal, with the footballer's personal participation. The statue now stands in front of the Cristiano Ronaldo Museum (CR7).
